pickle of the season

 Aam ka Khatta Achar

This is the first post on this blog.

My mummy is a wonderful chef, I believe everybody thinks so. Nothing new in it. right?

Try out this recipe and you will believe it.

Summer is here!!!Time to make achar for the entire year.

Let us make Aam ka Khatta Achar.

There is a story behind this recipe. My grand mother(nanni) used to make this pickle and many other types of pickles during summer for the entire family. Any guess how much quantity??? 25-30 kilos. Masala was also handmade, mango was cut at home. We all kids used to enjoy watching and tasting them too! It took lot of efforts to make it. Each time we used to eat, we used to remember our nanny. My mummy has learnt from her mother and now she has taught me. Such traditions must be learnt from our parents and grand parents. Such traditions are our treasures to cherish.

Ingredients required:(to make 1kilo pickle)
  • Raw Rajapuri mango-1 kilo
  • Readymade khatta achar masala 250 kg
  • If one wants to make masala at home: i will share the recipe soon.
  • Sesame seed oil (mustard oil is generally used) 250ml

Steps in making:
  1. Wash mango properly.
  2. Remove the peel.
