Rava Dhokla

Rava dhokla this is a very special dish. This is the first dish which I learnt from my mummy for my daughter when she was 3 years old.

This is easy to cook and heatlhy to eat.

Ingredients-

Sooji/rava 1 bowl

Plain curd 1 bowl

Vegetables of your choice(i prefer sweet corn, finely chopped carrots). Finely chopped capsicum, french beans,  onion can be added

Grated green chilli, ginger

Salt as per taste

Pinch of fruit salt

Water

Chopped corainder and grated coconut to garnish

Crushed pepper(optional)

To temper

Oil

Mustard seeds

Sessame seeds

Asafoetida

Method-

Take sooji in a broad bowl. Add curd, chillii and ginger, salt, chopped vegetables.

Mix well in one direction. Add water to make consistency little thin of a batter (if needed)  so it can be spread over the dish easily. Keep it covered for 10 minutes.

Take a pan with a lid, put water and allow to boil it.

Take a dish and apply oil all over(greese it) lightly.

Now add fruit salt in sooji batter  and mix again well. there will be froth due to fruit salt. Pour a batter and spread it in a dish.  Sprinkle crushed pepper over it. Dont pour a thick layer.

Put the dish in a pan and cover it. allow to steam and cook it for 10-15 minutes. After 10 minutes check with a tooth pick if cooked well or not(generally if cooked well, toothpick will be clean when you are checking). Dhokla is ready.

Once done, allow to cool for 5 minutes. Then cut into pieces with knife and remove from dish. As oil is applied, one can take out dhokla easily.

Now take oil, add mustard seeds and allow to splatter. you can add asafoetida also. sprinkle over dhokla. garnish with coriander. Serve with green  chutney.

It tastes good while serve hot.

This instant receipe is tasty and liked by all.

Do share your experience after making it.
